Christmas Fun Day
Culzean Castle
15th December 2007
This year we held a Christmas Fun Day at Culzean. The Event was well supported by the Members with over 60 Dogs attending. The Weather was cold but dry. After a welcome cup of tea we commenced with a Fun Match judged by Aitken Johnston. Everyone took part from both the Show side of the Club and the Pet owners who attended. The Winner of the Match was Nina & Willie Monie with Earngrove Recoil. When the Match was finished we held our "Fancy Dress" Parade which was won by the "Angel" A great deal of effort went into the imaginative outfits and alll the owners were to be congratulated . To the astonishment of the many walkers in the Park we went for a "Santa Dash " around the Vistors Centre. We were a sight to behold. A welcome lunch followed with a chance to recover from the excitement. We invited Mandy McDonald along to speak to us about trimming and grooming your dog. She gave us an excellent demonstration and left us with a great deal to think about . A Vet Question time followed. Cath Wilson, a well known Vet from Kilbarchan came along and answered a great deal of questions ranging from the care of your dog, Vaccination, specific illnesses, Feeding and hereditary diseases. She was extremely interesting, very approachable and enjoyed sharing her knowledge. We then enjoyed some Christmas pies and warm Mulled wine. Time then to go back to "Party Mode " with games for both owners and dogs. Musical "Sits" was very popular amongst the many games played. Jim Richardson provided all the music and a great time was had by all. No Christmas Fun Day would be complete without a visit from Santa (another one !!!!!!!) who arrived to give all the dogs a Christmas Parcel. This was a very popular event with loads of prizes and gifts. Our thanks must go to The National Trust at Culzean Castle & Country Park for allowing us to hold the Event at this beautiful setting. See you next year. D.McGugan. |
