Interclub Working Test 24th June 2007

Best in show

By Ian & Doreen McGugan.

This year the Interclub Working Test was hosted by the GRC of Wales. It was held at Cymyou near Abergaveny by kind invitation of Richard Morris. The setting was beautiful within a valley surrounded by hills. The catering was excellent and the welcome received was wonderful. Even the weather was lovely.
The event was organised by Lucy Jenkins.
Eleven of the thirteen Clubs took part. The Judges were Graham Cox, Judy Rainey, Annie Wales, Jamie Bettison, Brian Gregory and Johnny Morris.

Our Team were Vicki Pritchard with Welsh Ruby, Judy Lunt with Cainhoe Rosevean, Nicki Charles with Castlemans Lock Stock Barel and Duncan Matthews with Charodcot Rulewest Cirsty of Dunmar.

There were six tests set by Iris and Frank Wright.  Each team consisted of two Novice and two Open dogs.

South West GRC won with a score of 464
Second was Eastern Counties GRC with a score of 436
Third was Northern GRA with a score of 431.

The other team scores were:
GRC of Wales 423
GRC of Northumbria 418
Berks Downs & Chiltern GRC 414
YGRC 413
SGRC 411
GRCS 400
GRC 394
Midland GRC 367

Best Open Dog & Best Overall was Simon Fowler's Cainhoe Chapeldown running for GRC of Wales.

Best Novice after a runoff was Anna Wagland's Merryway Hazel of Pebbletoft running for NGRA.

The event will be hosted next year by Southern GRC at a venue near Lewes East Sussex with Scotland hosting in 2009.

We thoroughly enjoyed the day and have marked the event in our diary for next year, albeit as supporters for our team.
