Critique for GRCS Open Show 4^th June 2023

 

I would like to extend my thanks to the Committee of the GRCS for the very kind invitation to Judge at your Show and for their super hospitality throughout the day.

To my two very capable ring stewards on the day, Marie Grady and Gillian Fewster who kept the ring running smoothly and kept me on track and most importantly to the Exhibitors who afford me the opportunity to Judge their dogs and made for a lovely atmosphere ring side.

Veteran Dog

1^st Mrs C Gray. Knockothie Fairway

This boy is 10 years old, in super hard condition, credit to his owner.  Nothing overdone about him, complete balance in profile and holds a dead level topline on the move with super reach and drive.  He has a beautiful masculine head, dark pigmentation and soft dark eye.  Good length of neck, into an excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm. Good spring of rib.  Short coupled boy with equally good quarters.  Good bone and tight feet.  He possesses an attractive ring presence and apart from avoiding the corners moved out really well.  Delighted to award this lovely boy Reserve Best Dog.

2^nd Mr Mrs Mackenzie. Tullochmore Here We Go Again

8 year old male, attractive head, good length of neck.  Nice lay of shoulder, would prefer more upper arm.  Level topline, good turn of stifle and moved out well.

Minor Puppy Dog.

1^st Ms M McDonald. Lamancha Time Traveller

7 month old Golden Boy.  Beautifully presented and handled. In super Coat and Condition. Well up on his leg, attractive masculine head, dark pigmentation and dark eye.  This boy has a lovely length of neck and good layback of shoulder, would prefer more return of upper arm, but he is very young and has loads of time.  Balanced front and rear angulation, level topline which he held on the move.  Moved well.

Puppy Dog.

1^st Ms M McDonald. Lamancha Take A Chance.

Litter brother to MPD Winner, more balanced and together than his brother today, Larger Framed boy, well up on his leg, attractive balanced head, excellent pigmentation and dark eye.  Again, a lovely reach of neck into good layback of shoulder, good return of upper arm, level topline and balanced front and rear angulations.  Again beautiful presented in excellent Coat and Condition.  Pleased to award him Best Male Puppy.

2^nd Miss T Pratt. Rosyth Keltic Lord.

Smaller framed puppy than no 1.  I really liked this boy, lovely balance to his front and rear angulation and shown in a lovely mid golden coat and in great condition.  He has a very attractive head, would prefer a better length to his neck.  Level top loin and good spring of rib.  Moved out very happily with his owner and has a good ring presence.

Junior Dog

1^st Miss E Tait.  Strathlon Here Comes the Sun

Pale boy shown in good coat and condition.  Loved this boys ring presence and movement.  He covered the ground with ease as he moved around the ring.  Attractive head and expression.  Good length of neck into well placed lay of shoulder and equal return of upper arm, placing his legs under his body.  Deep in body with good spring of rib, level top loin and balance front and rear angulations.

2^nd Mrs M Hunter.  Kadaka Kevin Karrot at Kyleholm

This was a lovely partnership and what ring presence this boy had.  Very balanced mid gold boy with a super head and most pleasing of expressions.  Dark pigmentation and a lovely dark soft eye.  He is balanced in profile and this is reflected in his movement as he moved around the ring, just wish there was more of him.

Special Yearling Dog

1^st Mr Mrs Bolton.  Megarvey Still Game for Shiresmill

Large framed mid gold dog.  Very attractive head and expression with dark pigmentation and dark eye.  Good bone and tight feet, good length of neck, balanced angulation front and rear, slightly long cast in body.  Moved well.

2^nd. Mrs G King.  Cleddans Dreaming of Summer

Attractive mid golden boy with a lovely head and expression.  Good length of neck and level topline.  Balanced front and rear angulations, good bone and moved well.  Just flagging his tail on the move today.

1^st Mrs J Gerhold.  Navilis Vivat Vivaldi (IMP UKR) JW

Beautifully presented and handled pale boy in excellent coat and condition.  He has a very attractive head with a melting expression.  Dark pigmentation and dark soft eye.  Good length of neck.  Excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, placing his feet under his body. Excellent bone and tight feet.  Good spring of rib and short in his couplings.  Balanced angulations front and rear.  Another boy with great ring presence and moved our really well with reach and drive covering the ground with ease.

2^nd Mrs M Hunter.  Glenrioch Rock of Ages at Kyleholm.

Another lovely mid gold boy.  So much to like about this boy, most beautiful head and expression, complete balance in this boy on profile and in good hard condition when you go over him.  He displayed a very happy disposition and floated around the ring.  Would just love more of him.

Post Graduate Dog

1^st Ms K Little.  King of Swing Qdore of Labgold to Bluebraes.

Mid Golden Boy full of character and ring presence.  Attractive head with good pigmentation and dark eye, would prefer a deeper muzzle for complete balance.  Good length of neck.  Excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm. Excellent bone and tight feet.  Deep through his boy with a good spring of rib.  Level topline, good bend of stifle and straight well let down hocks.  Shown in a super coat and good condition.

Limit Dog.

1^st Mrs A McGeoch. Nedlezah Lochlea

This boy caught my attention for his ease of movement and his happy disposition in the ring and an evident will to please his owner. Compact mid golden boy with excellent bone and balanced angulations front and rear, short couplings affording him the opportunity to move with great reach and drive and cover the ground with ease.  Attractive masculine head with good pigmentation, if I was to be super critically I would prefer a darker eye. Shown in excellent coat and hard condition.  Lovely reach of neck, good layback of shoulder and equal length of upper arm.  Deep through his body, good spring of rib, level topline, balanced angulations front and rear, well let down straight hocks.  He was a joy to watch move and I was delight to award him Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show.

2^nd Mr and Mrs Wallis. Blue Gemstone Katrina

Mid Golden Boy with attractive head and expression, good reach of neck and level topline.  Balanced front and rear angulations.  Moved out well.

Open Dog

1^st Mr and Mrs Bolton. Dantassie Golden Gun for Shiresmill JW

Large Cast mid golden boy.  He has an attractive masculine head and soft expression.  Excellent pigmentation.  Good bone and tight feet.  Good reach of neck, good layback of shoulder.  Level topline.  Balanced front and rear angulations and straight hocks.  Move well.

Veteran Bitch

1^st Miss I Cuthill.  Mousseglen Mariska (AI)

9 1/2-year-old mid golden bitch.  This lady was shown in good coat and super condition defying her 9 1/2 years.  She has a beautiful feminine head, dark pigmentation and dark soft eye.  Good bone and tight feet.  Good length of neck.  Excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm.  Deep through her body, slightly long in loin, balanced front and rear angulations.  Moved around the ring like a dream.  She was just pipped to the post by the male for Best Veteran.  Both of these veteran are a credit to their owners to be in the condition they are in.

 

2^nd Ms C King.  Cardrona Congeniality

Smaller framed bitch than no 1.  I really like this feminine bitch, she has lovely ring presence and moved out really well with her owner, cover the ground with ease.  Pleasing head and expression, she is in excellent hard condition but she left her clothes at home today.  Balanced front and rear angulations and has a level topline which she held on the movement.

Minor Puppy Bitch

1^st Mr Mrs Lochhead.  Kaylaton Heidi Weiss

7 mth old mid golden ultra-feminine puppy.  So balanced for her age.  Beautiful head and expression.  Excellent pigmentation and soft dark eye.  Good bone and feet.  Good length of neck.  Excellent lay of shoulder and nice return of upper arm.  Lovely short coupled puppy.  Balance angulations front and rear.  Straight hocks and good bend of stifle.  She moved really well for her age.   Liked this lady a lot.

2^nd Ms M Mcdonald. Lamancha Tango.

7 mth old Golden bitch.  Beautiful presented and handled.  Well up on her leg, shown in excellent coat and good condition.  Pleasing head and expression, excellent pigmentation.  Balanced front and rear angulations, moved out well.

Puppy Bitch

1^st Mrs J Neilson.  Tweedspey Topsecret Avec Ponfeigh (Imp FRA)

This little lady fills a ring, she exudes breed type and displays a happy disposition at every opportunity with a constant wagging tail and smiling face.  She excels on the move, displaying reach and drive from every angle, powering her around the ring with wonderful head carriage and holding that all important top loin.  Joy to watch. She has the most feminine of heads with a melting expression.  Excellent pigmentation and dark soft eye.  She was presented in beautiful coat, although just starting to cast and super condition.  She has an excellent front construction and corresponding rear construction, giving a complete balanced picture both standing and on the move.  Deep through her body with a good spring of rib.  Delight to award her 1^st place in Puppy, Junior, Novice and Reserve Best Bitch in a tightly fought out Bitch Line Up.

Feminine Pale Bitch, she has an attractive balanced head with dark pigmentation and dark eye.  Good length of neck into a level topline.  Balanced front and rear angulations, slightly longer cast than No 1.  Good bone and feet.

Yearling Bitch

1^st Ms L A Harper

Beautiful pale feminine bitch.  She has a very attractive head and expression with dark pigmentation and dark eye.  She had good bone and stands on excellent feet.  Good length of neck, level topline, good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm making excellent Forequarters and has equally good rear quarters.  Excellent on the move, which won her this class.

2^nd Megarvey Déjà Vu JW

Longer cast mid gold bitch.  Feminine head with a dark eye and excellent pigmentation.  Good length of neck into well placed shoulders, level topline, and good bend of stile, shown in hard condition and presented beautifully.  Moved out with a gay tail today.

Maiden Bitch

2^nd Flyngalee Busy Boo

Mid Gold Bitch, well up to size. She has an attractive head and expression with dark pigmentation and dark eye.  Balanced front and rear angulations and level topline, good bone and feet, moved out well.

Loved this lady, feminine compact mid gold bitch. She has a beautiful feminine head and expression.  Dark pigmentation and dark eye.  She has the best of fronts with corresponding rear angulation, resulting in complete balance throughout.  Moved out well when settled covering the ground with ease. Super ring presence and shown in hard condition and excellent coat.

2^nd Miss T Pratt. Rosyth Kind of Magic.

Feminine Bitch with a pleasing head and expression, good pigmentation and dark eye.  Balanced front and rear angulations and held a level topline on the move.  Would prefer a slightly longer length of neck.  Moved out well.

Graduate Bitch

1^st Mrs K & Miss R Feasby.  Torcarhian Purple Skies

Feminine pale bitch with a beautiful head and expression, dark eye and excellent pigmentation.  She stood on tight feet with good bone.  Well placed shoulders with a good return of upper arm, excellent length of neck and level topline.  She had corresponding rear quarters with a good bend of stifle and straight hocks.  She moved out well, little unsure of herself but a super quality bitch.

2^nd Mrs G Purdie.  Dunnybrae Tickety Boo.

Feminine Bitch in mid gold coat.  Pleasing head and expression, balanced front and rear angulation, level topline.  Moved out well.

Post Graduate Bitch

1^st Megarvey Clemetine JW

What a beautiful lady this girl is, she stood four square on the stack and presented a very balanced outline.  She has a beautiful mid gold coat, shown and presented to the best.  Feminine throughout with a very attractive head and melting expression.  Good length of neck, excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm.  Deep through her body, good spring of rib, good couplings into a good bend of stifle and straight hocks.  She has a level topline and excellent tail set.  She excels on the move, where her balanced angulations and super hard condition affords her to cover ground effortlessly with excellent reach and drive.  A real show girl in the ring with super attitude and excellent relationship evident with her handler. Top Honours couldn’t be denied to her. She fought out a hard battle to be Best Bitch and BIS.

2^nd Miss S and Miss K Campbell & Roberston.  Linirgor Cuddle In

Very attractive bitch with a beautiful head and expression.  Balanced in front and rear angulations, good length of neck and level topline.  Good bone and tight feet.  Moved out well.

Limit Bitch

1^st Mrs C McShane.  Rigerin Respect.

Appealing feminine mid gold bitch.  Very attractive head and expression, dark pigmentation and dark eye.  Excellent bone and feet.  She has a good reach of neck into well laid back shoulder and equal return of upper arm.  She held a level topline on the move and has corresponding excellent rear quarters, with a good turn of stifle and straight hocks.  Shown in good hard condition and coat.  Moved out well, covering the ground with ease.

2^nd Mr D & Mrs E Hain.  Fhairmhor Wee Midden at Strathain

Feminine Bitch, good length of neck and layback of shoulder.  Balanced front and rear angulations.  Level topline which she held on the move, would have preferred a deeper muzzle for complete balance to her head.

Open Bitch

Feminine Pale Bitch with attractive head and expression.  Shown in excellent coat and hard condition.  Good length of neck set into well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Balanced front and rear angulations.  Level topline which she held on the move, standing on tight feet and excellent bone.  Lovely ring presence evident in this bitch.

Very attractive feminine mid gold bitch.  She has a sweet head and expression.  Balanced front and rear angulations, level topline and short couplings.  Move well covering the ground with ease.
