Judges list criteria – correct as at feb 2018

Al List
For persons who have the support of GRCS and have already awarded Challenge Certificates.

A2 List
For persons who fulfill all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of the GRCS.

A3 List (Breed Specialists)
For persons whom GRCS would support to award Challenge Certificates but who have not yet completed their first appointment.

  1. To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the GRCS.
  2. To have judged 1 Breed Club Show.
  3. To have judged the breed at 15 Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with an adequate geographical spread.
  4. To have judged a minimum of 100 classes.
  5. To have judged a minimum of 350 dogs.
  6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
  7. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
  8. To have attended a Points of the Dog seminar conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.
  9.  To have attended at least one Breed Specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
  10. 10. To have attended any Field Trial or an Open Gundog Test (GWT) for a Gundog Breed in the relevant subgroup.
  11.  To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (Save in exceptional circumstances).
  12. To have stewarded at 12 Shows

A3 List (Non Specialists)

  1. To have awarded CC’s in at least one other Breed.
  2. To have judged 1 Breed Club Show. (recommended)
  3. To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the GRCS.
  4. To have judged the breed at 15 Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with an adequate geographical spread.

GRCS Judging List Criteria 2017/2018

  1. To have judged a minimum of 100 classes.
  2.  To have judged a minimum of 350 dogs.
  3. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
  4. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
  5. To have attended a Points of the Dog seminar conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.
  6.  To have attended at least one Breed Specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
  7. To have attended any Field Trial or an Open Gundog Test (GWT) for a Gundog Breed in the
    relevant subgroup.
  8. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (Save in exceptional circumstances).
  9. To have stewarded at 12 Shows

B List (Breed Specialists)
For persons whom GRCS would support to judge the breed without Challenge Certificates.

  1. To have judged the breed for a minimum of 5 years.
  2. To have judged 30 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs.
  3. To have judged 200 dogs of this breed.
  4. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
  5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
  6. To have attended a Points of the Dog seminar conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited trainer and passed the assessment.
  7. To have attended at least one Breed Specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

B List (Non Specialists)

  1. Minimum of 5 years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of the GRCS.
  2. To have judged 30 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs. (Save in exceptional circumstances).
  3. To have judged 200 dogs of this breed.
  4. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
  5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
  6. To have attended a Points of the Dog seminar conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited trainer and passed the assessment.
  7. To have attended at least one Breed Specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

C List
For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed for a minimum of 3 years and have the support of the GRCS. Listings would normally include persons who have judged the breed at Limited and Open Shows but do not yet qualify for the B Lists.

  • For all lists prospective judges must receive a majority committee vote in their favour. •Voting is by secret ballot.
  • The committee must receive a CV from each prospective judge before they can be considered.

Judges 2018

This list includes:

  • GRCS “A1” List 2018
    For persons whom GRCS supports, who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the Breed and who have completed their first appointment.
  • A2 List 2018
    For persons who fulfill all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of the GRCS.
  • A3 List 2018
    Contains the names of persons whom GRCS would support to award Challenge Certificates but who have not yet completed their first appointment.
  • “B” List 2017
    For persons whom GRCS would support to judge the breed without Challenge Certificates.
  • “C” List 2017
    Contains the names of persons whom GRCS would support to judge up to six classes of the the breed at open showswith the provoso that one of these classes is a puppy class.

Please note that the submission of a completed form does not necessarily ensure the applicant’s inclusion in the Club’s Lists. Lists are valid for one year at a time and inclusion in a list one year does not necessarily ensure inclusion in future years.
